C.T.Wilson & Son - a family history
The business was established around 1860. The 'CT' of C.T. WILSON AND SON, was Charles Thomas Wilson, a coal merchant born in Emberton. Initially, Charles ran the coal business making deliveries with horse and cart. He also ran one of the two pubs in Emberton, The Bell.
Les Wilson, his son, ran the other pub in the village, The Bear. Some years later Les joined the coal business, he and his wife Jean ran the pub together. They had six children, most of whom were born in what is now called The Bell and Bear.
Charles eventually retired leaving Les to run the business. Gerald, the oldest of the children, worked with his father, then Keith his youngest son joined the business. When Les retired Keith and Gerald joined as partners. Gerald retired early in 2020, Keith, his wife Cheryl and their children run the family business as you see it today.
